Bruce Richards is the Co-Founder, CEO, and Chairman of Marathon Asset Management, a leading global investment manager specializing in the public and private credit markets. He is responsible for general oversight of the $23 billion the firm manages on behalf of its institutional investors. He also leads Marathon’s Executive Committee, a team of senior professionals, as well as Marathon’s Investment Committee, responsible for approving principal investments. Richards worked on Wall Street for 15 years, including 10 years as a Managing Director in the fixed income divisions of Smith Barney and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.
Richards co-founded Marathon with Lou Hanover in 1998 with focus on the global credit markets, corporate debt and the structured debt markets.
His day-to-day presence is critical in maximizing Marathon's synergies and leveraging the intellectual capital throughout Marathon.
He collaborates with Marathon’s clients while managing the firm and overseeing its business lines.
EARLY CAREER
He served as head of a trading desk responsible for principal investments and market making for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.
He also worked at Shearson Lehman Hutton, now Lehman Brothers, as a trader in their Fixed Income Division.
He started his career with Paine Webber.
