Chris Watling is the CEO and Chief Market Strategist at Longview Economics, an independent research consultancy specializing in global macro economics research, financial market analysis and market volatility. Watling has been passionate about markets and generating intelligence investment advice since 1994. Prior to founding Longview Economics, he worked for 12 years with Cazenove and then CAI Cheuvreux as a global economist and strategist. Before that, he trained at KPMG in London. Watling regularly chairs and speaks at global investment conferences and is often quoted in the financial press.
Watling founded Longview in 2003 to specialize in macro analysis, investment strategy, macro thematic and commodity fundamental research.
He developed a number of proprietary quantitative models that add precision to investment strategies.
He pioneered Longview's “Old Normal” thesis regarding long secular cycles in global financial markets.
EARLY CAREER
Prior to founding Longview Economics, Watling worked in London for 12 years with Cazenove and then CAI Cheuvreux as a global economist and strategist.
He also held roles as an Equity Analyst and Corporate Financier at Cazenove in the mid 1990s.
He is also an Ambassador for WeSeeHope – a charity which is about the generation of hope and which supports children and young people in sub-Saharan Africa affected by HIV/AIDS.
