Jake Chervinsky is an industry veteran and the Chief Legal Officer at Variant, an early-stage crypto venture capital firm. He works with Variant's portfolio to develop legal and regulatory strategies that help them effectively execute their visions. Prior to joining Variant, he was the former Chief Policy Officer at Blockchain Association, the largest advocacy group for the crypto industry in Washington, D.C. He also served as the General Counsel at Compound, where he helped pioneer “progressive decentralization,” a playbook that became hugely influential across the crypto industry. Before joining Compound, Chervinsky worked in private practice representing clients in a broad range of regulatory compliance, financial services litigation, and government enforcement defense matters.

Chervinsky started his legal career with Baker McKenzie LLP, where he focused on anti-corruption and anti-money laundering compliance and investigations.
He later represented individual and corporate clients in cryptocurrency-related securities litigation and government enforcement defense matters at Kobre & Kim LLP.
He also clerked for the Honorable Fernando M. Olguin of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
