Jamil Baz is Managing Director and Head of Client Solutions and Analytics at PIMCO, a leading global investment management firm. In his role, Jamil is responsible for providing customized studies and solutions to PIMCO’s clients in areas including asset allocation, risk management and portfolio construction. Prior to rejoining PIMCO, he was a Senior Managing Director and Chief Investment Strategist of the Man Group, where he was the co-head of the firm's macro and relative value team. Jamil also held various positions at Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank and Lehman Brothers. He started his career at the World Bank where he traded the derivatives portfolio and advised central banks on the management of foreign exchange reserves and external debt. Equipped with over 34 years of investment experience, Jamil also teaches financial economics at University of Oxford, and has published extensively on topics such as asset allocation, risk premia, and term structure.
EARLY CAREER
Prior to his current role at PIMCO, he managed global portfolios and was instrumental in building the firm's global multi-asset investment approach.
Earlier in his career, he co-ran European fixed income research at Lehman Brothers and worked in derivatives and liability management at the World Bank.
Jamil has also taught at Georgetown University and Harvard university.
