Jonathan Levin is the Co-Founder and CEO of Chainalysis, the global leader in blockchain investigations, cryptocurrency compliance, and crypto risk management. As chief executive, he oversees the company’s strategy, operations, and global expansion, guiding its mission to help government agencies, cryptocurrency businesses, and financial institutions use blockchain data to solve their most critical challenges. Over the past decade at Chainalysis, Jonathan Levin has played a central role in scaling the company into a global leader in blockchain analytics, cryptocurrency compliance, and crypto investigation technology, now operating in more than 50 countries.
In his previous role as Chief Strategy Officer, Levin led the design and execution of long-term strategic initiatives that empowered government agencies, cryptocurrency businesses, and financial institutions to investigate illicit activity, meet regulatory requirements, and strengthen risk management using advanced anti-money laundering (AML) tools and blockchain education.
Throughout his tenure, he has overseen multiple business functions—including strategy, corporate development, sales, marketing, research and development, and policy and government affairs—helping position Chainalysis as the trusted partner for organizations navigating the digital asset ecosystem.
EARLY CAREER
Before co-founding Chainalysis, Levin served as CEO of Coinometrics, a pioneering blockchain analytics startup that built one of the first real-time dashboards for Bitcoin network intelligence.
There, he led a team of data scientists focused on measuring blockchain activity, market behavior, and network health.
Levin also worked as a Postgraduate Economist at the University of Oxford, where his research centered on virtual currencies.
He developed one of the earliest statistical models of Bitcoin transaction fees, contributing foundational insights to early cryptocurrency economic research.
