Jordan Thomas is Partner and Chair of the Whistleblower Representation Practice at Labaton Sucharow. He focuses his practice on investigating and prosecuting securities violations on behalf of whistleblowers and institutional clients. During his tenure in federal law enforcement, Thomas investigated and litigated a number of high-profile matters, resulting in more than $35 billion in monetary relief for investors. He is also a regular writer, speaker, and media commentator on whistleblower issues, securities enforcement, and corporate ethics.

Academic History

  • Thomas began his legal career as a Navy Judge Advocate on active duty.
  • He worked as a stockbroker while in law school.
  • He has appeared as a guest on Real Vision.
  • He is a principal architect of the SEC Whistleblower Program in 2011.
  • He established the nation’s first whistleblower practice exclusively focused on violations of the federal securities laws.
  • He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and the States of Connecticut, New Mexico, New York, and Virginia.
  • His clients won the largest single-case SEC whistleblower award in history, more than $83 million for reporting misconduct at Merrill Lynch.
  • He has represented SEC whistleblowers in matters that have led to over $1 billion in sanctions.
  • Among his many landmark cases, he successfully represented:
    • the first officer of a public company to win an SEC whistleblower award
    • the first SEC whistleblower to receive criminal immunity
    • the first SEC whistleblower to receive a whistleblower award because his company retaliated against him
