He is the founder of The Kitchen Group, a world class collection of restaurants focused on warm, genuine hospitality serving the highest quality, thoughtfully sourced food, and Co-founder and Chairman of Square Roots, an urban farming company growing food in hydroponic, indoor, climate controlled shipping containers. Regarded as a global social entrepreneur, his nonprofit organizations build permanent, outdoor Learning Garden classrooms in underserved schools around the U.S. reaching over 125,000 students everyday. His urban, indoor vertical farming accelerator, seeks to empower thousands of young entrepreneurs to become real food farmers. Kimbal has over 25 years of experience in technology and food, with businesses including Tesla, SpaceX, Paypal, Zip2, OneRiot, Chipotle, and many more.
EARLY CAREER
Kimbal and his brother Elon founded Zip2, an online directory business sold to Compaq Computer in 1999.
He was the CEO of OneRiot, a social media analytics and search technology company.
He invested in several early stage software and tech companies including X.com, which later merged with Paypal.
He has served as an Adjunct Professor at New York University.
