Niall Kishtainy is an economic historian and writer focused on visionary social thinkers and the history of ideas. He has published highly successful popular books on economics, social sciences and history with top traditional publishers, including Harper Collins and Yale University Press. His first book, A Little History of Economics, has been translated into over twenty languages. Kishtainy has worked as a journalist and written and edited reports for the Economist Intelligence Unit, the United Nations, the World Bank, and various governments. He is a former economic policy advisor to the UK government and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. He has also acted as an editorial consultant and reader for major trade and academic publishers. Previously, he served as Fellow at the London School of Economics and a Class Tutor at University of Warwick.

He previously worked in international development in Africa and the Middle East as a government economist and journalist.
He has been an editorial consultant and manuscript assessor for Cambridge University Press, Dorling Kindersley and Phaidon Press.
He served as an economic policy consultant for the Government of Albania, where he worked on national economic strategy.
At the World Bank, he served as an advisor for the bank's budget support and economic reform program for the Palestinian authority.
He served as an economist at the Department for International Development and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
