Pete Briger is Co-Chairman and a Managing Partner at Fortress Investment Group, a leading global investment management firm. He founded and heads the Fortress Credit & Real Estate business, a leading, opportunistic global investor focused primarily on undervalued, distressed and illiquid investments across a broad range of industries, asset classes and geographies. He also serves on Fortress' Leadership Committee and is a member of several investment committees. Prior to joining Fortress in 2002, Briger spent fifteen years at Goldman Sachs, where he became a partner in 1996. He serves on the boards of several charitable organizations and is involved with a number of philanthropic and community-driven causes. Briger has also been featured in various financial media outlets and publications, including CNBC, Yahoo! Finance, and Institutional Investor.

Briger oversees the firm’s credit fund business and runs the Drawbridge Special Opportunities Funds.
With over 500 employees worldwide, Fortress Credit & Real Estate manages over $26 billion in assets under management.
He has served as a member of the board of directors of Fortress since November 2006 and was elected Co-Chairman in August 2009.
He has been a member of the Management Committee of Fortress since March 2002.
At Goldman Sachs, Briger held the positions of Co-Head of the Whole Loan Sales and Trading business, Co-Head of the Fixed Income Principal Investments Group, and Co-Head of the Asian Distressed Debt business.
He also served as Co-Head of the Goldman Sachs Special Opportunities (Asia) Fund LLC and Co-Head of the Asian Real Estate Private Equity business.
He was a member of the Goldman Sachs Global Control and Compliance Committee, a member of the Goldman Sachs Asian Management Committee and a member of the Goldman Sachs Japan Executive Committee.
EARLY CAREER
He is a former U.S. Treasury official who served during the John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson administrations.
He has advised the International Finance Corporation on distressed debt issues and worked on the CompuCredit Corporation Board of Directors.
