Rob Kapito is a member of BlackRock’s Global Executive Committee and serves as Chairman of the Global Operating Committee, where he is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of BlackRock’s key operating units, including Investment Strategies, Client Businesses, Technology & Operations, and Risk & Quantitative Analysis.
He also serves as a Director of iShares Inc., overseeing BlackRock’s most influential businesses, including the $2.3 trillion iShares exchange-traded fund (ETF) franchise, its $2.1 trillion in actively managed assets, and the Aladdin risk-management technology platform, a system used by institutions worldwide to analyze risk and manage portfolios.
Prior to his current role, Kapito was Head of BlackRock’s Portfolio Management Group, where he oversaw the firm’s fixed income, equity, liquidity, and alternative investment businesses.
EARLY CAREER
Before co-founding BlackRock in 1988, Kapito was Vice President in the Mortgage Products Group at First Boston Corporation, where he specialized in fixed income and structured finance.
