Russell Korgaonkar is the Chief Investment Officer at Man AHL, a global alternative investment management firm. In his role, he has overall responsibility for the firm's investment and research. He is also a member of Man AHL’s Management and Investment Committees, and a member of the Man Group Executive Committee. Since joining Man Group in 2001, Russell has held numerous roles within the firm. He was previously Director of Investment Strategies of Man AHL, responsible for the firm's Liquid Strategies unit, which creates and runs scalable systematic strategies, as well as the Institutional Solutions business.
Russell joined the firm in 2001 as a researcher and later portfolio manager focused on systematic cash equity strategies. He was instrumental in building up Man AHL's expertise in this space.
He spent several years researching and building single-stock trading systems, including statistical arbitrage and fundamental factor models.
He managed the equity market neutral fund from its inception in 2005 and 2009, before concentrating on directional systems.
He later became Head of Portfolio Management, responsible for constructing and managing the firm's growing range of portfolios.
In addition to serving as the firm CIO, he is a Partner at AHL Partners and a Member of the Executive Committee of Man Group.
