Seth Hertlein is the Vice President and Global Head of Policy at Ledger, the world’s leading platform to secure cryptocurrency and digital assets. He leads the growing policy team at Ledger responsible for promoting economic freedom across the firm's global footprint with a particular focus on policy development in Europe. Seth has deep experience in blockchain policy, having previously served as the first Head of Policy and Government Relations for the Stellar Development Foundation, where he oversaw all aspects of SDF’s engagement on digital asset policy, legislation, and regulation globally. Prior to launching the policy practice at SDF, Seth was part of the founding team that opened the Washington office of FS Investments, a leading alternative investment manager. Before that, he was a Securities Regulator focused on adapting regulatory policy toward the burgeoning fintech industry.

LEDGER

  • Since joining Ledger in 2022, Seth has built the company’s global public policy strategy and led a team of government relations professionals.

  • His team has addressed the regulatory implications of Ledger’s growing support for Web3 applications, including NFTs, staking, enterprise solutions, transactional services, and more.

  • He also orchestrated Ledger’s response to the EU’s MiCA and TFR regulatory proposals.


EARLY CAREER

  • Seth built the policy and government relations functions at SDF from scratch into one of the most prominent and engaged of any blockchain project or company.

  • Under Seth’s leadership, SDF grew from being largely unknown in Washington to testifying before the House Financial Services Committee alongside the biggest names in the blockchain industry. 

  • At FS, he participated in passing the first modernization of the laws governing business development companies. 

  • Additionally, he holds leadership positions in a number of US- and globally-focused membership organizations.
