Takaaki Kato is Executive Director and Head of Sales & Trading at bitFlyer, the world's leading Bitcoin exchange and marketplace dedicated to providing customers with convenient and exciting ways to buy, sell, and spend Bitcoins. Takaaki has worked in equities and derivatives sales for 13 years in Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong. Prior to joining bitFlyer, he was Head of Equity Markets within Citigroup Global Markets Japan, a multinational investment bank and financial services corporation. At Citigroup, he was responsible for bolstering the firm’s stock trading business, including sales, trading, and execution services. Previously, he was Managing Director at Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities Co., a joint venture between the U.S. bank and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc.

EARLY CAREER
Takaaki started his career at Goldman Sachs after graduating from Harvard University in 1997.
He joined Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong in 2010, and moved to Tokyo in 2013 to become Managing Director at Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities.
At MUFG Securities, he was responsible for High Touch Cash and Electronic Execution and Programs, as well as both Listed and OTC derivatives.
