Parent term
Generation X, also known as Gen X, is the demographic cohort following the baby boomers and preceding the millennials. Often referred to as the latchkey generation, Gen Xers were often left unsupervised while their parents were working. This generation was hit particularly hard in the recession, but recovered the most in the downturn. Gen Xers are often characterized by high levels of skepticism, and the best level of education with bachelor’s degree or higher. They also still read newspapers, magazines, listen to the radio, and watch TV, but are also digital and technology savvy. Most members of Generation X are the children of the Silent Generation and early boomers.
