The Vanguard Mortgage-Backed Securities ETF provides exposure to the mortgage-backed security slice of the bond market, a corner of the finance world that has seen its share of troubles over the past few years. The Fund employs a passively-managed, indexing investment approach designed to track the performance of the Bloomberg Barclays U.S. MBS Float Adjusted Index. VMBS’s index covers U.S. agency mortgage-backed pass-through securities which aims to provide a moderate and sustainable level of current income. VMBS employs a moderate interest rate risk, with a dollar-weighted average maturity of 3 to 10 years.
