Christopher Gimbert is Chief Financial Officer of Star Mountain Capital, a specialized lower middle-market asset management firm. Prior to his current role, he was the firm's former Chief Operating Officer. Chris has over 20 years of private equity, credit investment and operating experience. Prior to helping launch Star Mountain, he was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of an interim CFO advisory business serving small businesses. He started his career at Merrill Lynch in the Alternative Investments group focused on private equity fund due diligence, then joined KPMG to help build their M&A Advisory practice focused on private equity and strategic transactions. At KPMG, he helped private equity and other investors perform due diligence on target acquisitions, improve operations at portfolio companies and assist with post-merger integration.
From 2006 to 2010, Chris worked with an investment firm focused on launching, building and investing in small businesses.
He worked with venture capital firms focused on financial services and internet sectors.
At Merrill Lynch, he worked at private equity fund due diligence, manager selection and analysis on alternative asset managers.
At KPMG, he was involved in M&A operating and integration, including private equity acquisition integration of companies.
He was a VP at Governing Dynamics Ventures, worked at Contour Venture Partners, and served in small business lending platform On Deck.
He holds an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business, where he was an InSITE Fellow and Founder of the NYU Venture Community.
NYU Venture Community grew to a 2,000+ member private network interested in small business ventures and entrepreneurship.
He also holds a BSBA from Washington University, where he won the annual business plan competition for a business he co-founded as a student.
