Christian Thwaites, Brouwer & Janachowski Chief Investment Officer, oversees the company's Portfolio Management Group responsible for research, strategy, and investment management of all client portfolios. He is also a Principal of the firm, and a Member of the Senior Management team and the company’s Investment Committee. Christian has also worked in the investment management industry for three decades in the US, Europe, and Asia. Prior to joining the Company, Christian was President and Chief Executive Officer of Sentinel Investments, which managed more than $28 billion in fixed income and equities for institutional and retail clients, and was the lead portfolio manager on one of Sentinel’s multi-strategy funds.
Christian Thwaites has written for InvestmentNews, Forbes, Advisor Perspectives and Ignites, and appears regularly on CNBC, Bloomberg TV, and radio.
He is responsible for the specialty law firm client practice group Smart Counsel. B and J Advisors, and also publishes the company’s weekly blog of economic and market insights.
Christian was a Member of the Board of Directors of Marin Economic Forum, and a former Director of The Borgen Project for almost 10 years.
He was also part of the Board of Directors at TeenSmart International and Champlain College.
Christian graduated as a Baker Scholar from Harvard Business School earning a masters in business-school" Administration degree with a concentration in Finance. He also earned a first class honors degree in History from London University.
