Jeff Horowitz is the Chief Compliance Officer of BitGo, the leader in digital asset financial services, where he oversees the firm’s global compliance and AML programs across the enterprise. Prior to joining BitGo, he was the Chief Compliance Officer for Coinbase, where he led the firm's global compliance program, managed regulatory and bank partner relationships and helped to shape Crypto, AML and FATF regulation with both foreign and domestic regulators. Jeff had a lengthy career in mainstream finance with BNY Pershing in various leadership roles, most recently as Managing Director and Global Head of Compliance. Before that, he held leadership roles for compliance and AML programs for Citigroup, Goldman Sachs and Salomon Brothers. He has also sat on a number of high profile regulatory committees including the FINRA Compliance and Advisory Committee.

Academic History

EARLY CAREER

  • Jeff spent over 12 years with Pershing in various leadership roles including as Managing Director and Global Head of Compliance; and CCO.

  • He served as Pershing's Chief Anti-Money Laundering and OFAC Officer, responsible for the development and implementation of the firm’s Global AML Program.

  • He served as a Deputy AML Officer for Lehman Brothers and Vice President of Equities and Private Wealth Management Compliance for Goldman Sachs.

  • He was a Senior Compliance Examiner for Salomon Brothers and Senior Branch Examiner for Paine Webber.

  • He began his career as a regulator with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in the Division of Resolutions. 

  • Jeff was also a past co-chair of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Anti-Money Laundering Committee, member of FINRA’s Large Firm Advisory Committee and the U.S Treasury’s Bank Secrecy Act Advisory Group (BSAAG).

  • He represented both the Securities and Crypto industries as well as an active participant in FATF’s private sector consultative initiatives.
