Kara Murphy is Chief Investment Officer of Kestra Investment Management, an industry-leading wealth management platform provider. She provides investment expertise, market research, commentary, and guidance on portfolio construction for the Kestra Holdings financial advisor network. Murphy is a seasoned financial executive with over two decades of experience in the investment industry. Prior to joining Kestra, she was Chief Investment Officer at Goldman Sachs Personal Financial Management, where she oversaw approximately $26 billion in clients' assets. During her tenure as Chief Investment Officer at AIG Funds, the firm's assets grew from $23 billion to $50 billion. She also served as an Analyst at Chilton Investment Company, a hedge fund, and at Morgan Stanley Investment Management. Murphy joined Goldman Sachs as a Managing Director in 2019 as part of Goldman Sachs’ acquisition of United Capital.
She was most recently Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director at Goldman Sachs Personal Financial Management, responsible for overseeing client investments.
She and her team provided a broad range of investment strategies, including low-cost index strategies, active equity and fixed income, alternatives and options.
She also served on Goldman Sachs’ Women’s Council, Inclusion and Diversity Committee, and the Sustainability Committee.
