Mason Morfit is the Co-CEO and Chief Investment Officer of ValueAct Capital, an activist fund that manages over $16 billion on behalf of some of the world;s largest institutional investors. Prior to joining ValueAct Capital at inception, Morfit worked in equity research for Credit Suisse First Boston’s healthcare group where he focused on the managed care industry. He has lectured on issues of corporate governance and executive compensation at Stanford Law School's Director’s College, the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University, and the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
Since joining ValueAct in 2001, he has held several roles within the firm and worked with various tech companies.
He played an important role in ValueAct's nearly decade long investment in Valeant that has produced $3.6 billion in profits, an internal rate of return of more than 40%.
He was the first of four ValueAct partners who have served on Valeant's board, helping to recruit Mike Pearson to the CEO position and designing Pearson's compensation plan.
