Matt Hougan is the Chief Investment Officer of Bitwise Asset Management, the world’s largest provider of cryptocurrency index funds, with more than $1.5 billion in AUM. In his role, he helps in building and refining the index methodologies that underlie the firm’s investment products. Hougan is the creator of the world's first cryptocurrency index fund. He is one of the world's leading experts on cryptocurrency, ETFs, financial technology, and disruption. He conducts fundamental research into the role crypto assets can play in a diversified portfolio. Previously, Hougan served as the CEO of etf.com and Inside ETFs, where he helped build the world’s first ETF data and analytics system, the leading ETF media site and the world’s largest ETF conference. In addition to his management responsibilities, he is a crypto columnist for Forbes and an advisor to multiple startups.
