Michael Coolbaugh is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Strom Capital Management, an alternative investment firm with a focus on discretionary global macro strategies, and Founder and Chief macro Strategist at Element macro Research, an independent macro research firm. In addition, he is a macro analyst and editor at Real Vision, a leading video channel where the world's smartest investors and traders share their best ideas. Previously, he worked at a $10.7bn hedge fund of funds manager K2 Advisors, where his team was responsible for the Research and implementation of direct trading strategies on portfolios ranging from $5 million to $500 million. During his time at K2 Advisors, Michael began authoring what is now the genesis of Element macro's core product offering, daily and weekly Research reports titled “Morning Snapshot” and “Weekly Observations”. Michael has extensive experience within the hedge fund industry, having served as a desk analyst at Paloma Partners where he supported 3 portfolio managers on a Merger Arbitrage/Special Situations trading desk. He also served as a discretionary global macro trader managing partner Capital at Koyote Capital, a proprietary trading firm.
