Perry Mehrling is Professor of International Political Economy at the Pardee School of Global Studies, Boston University, where he teaches courses on the economics of money and banking, the history of money and finance, and international money. Mehrling’s work is primarily concerned with articulating and finessing the Money View, a compelling approach to monetary economics which synthesizes ideas from both economics and finance. His areas of expertise include money and banking, political economy, history of monetary and financial thought, and global money. Prior to joining BU, he served as Professor of Economics at Barnard College for 30 years, where he taught courses on the dimensions of the U.S. retirement, health, and education systems. Today, Mehrling directs the educational initiatives of the New Economic Thinking, one of which is his course Economics of Money and Banking, available on Coursera.
