Rosie Collington is a political economist, writer, and PhD candidate at the University College London Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose, where she researches the political economy of outsourcing. Her research explores the political economy of health innovation, the role of the state in value creation, climate governance, and public sector reform. Collington is the co-author with Mariana Mazzucato of The Big Con: How the Consulting Industry Weakens our Businesses, Infantilizes our Governments and Warps our Economies. She also regularly provides policy advice to think tanks, trade unions, and other nonprofit and for-profit organizations. Previously, she held roles in policy and advocacy at the British Heart Foundation, and most recently as a Researcher for a project led by Professor William Lazonick on pharmaceutical industry financialization, funded by the Institute for New Economic Thinking.

RESEARCH & EARLY CAREER

  • Collington has worked as an Adjunct Lecturer in Political Economy  and a Seminar Lead at both undergraduate and Master's level at UCL.

  • She has conducted policy research for the CommonWealth and the British Heart Foundation, where she also previously worked within an outsourced team from Deloitte.

  • She is a Coordinator of the Economics of Innovation Working Group with the Institute for New Economic Thinking’s Young Scholars Initiative.
