Think tanks are institutions, corporations, or groups often affiliated with universities, foundations, advocacy groups, and non-government organizations for interdisciplinary research that generate policy research and analysis. Also known as Think factory, these institutions belong to the nonprofit sector that performs research and advocacy concerning topics such as social policy, political strategy, economics, military, technology, and culture. Think tanks belong to a nonprofit sector, yet influencing public policy decisions seems to be one of their main objectives and abilities, publishing articles, studies or even draft legislation on particular matters of policy or society.
