Steven McClurg is the Founder and CEO of Canary Capital, a digital asset investment firm focused on cryptocurrency and blockchain-based investment strategies. He brings deep expertise spanning traditional finance, fintech, and digital assets, with experience across insurtech, payments, asset management, and blockchain innovation. Prior to founding Canary Capital, McClurg was the Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Valkyrie Funds, a prominent digital asset investment manager that was later acquired by CoinShares. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in launching one of the first spot Bitcoin ETFs in the United States, helping to bridge institutional capital with the emerging crypto market. He also served as the lead portfolio manager of the Valkyrie Bitcoin Miners ETF (WGMI), which became the top-performing ETF of 2023 and one of the few actively managed funds dedicated to the publicly traded Bitcoin mining ecosystem. EARLY CAREER
Steven McClurg has built a distinguished career at the intersection of traditional finance, fintech, and digital assets.
He was the Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Valkyrie, a leading digital asset investment manager, where he played a pivotal role in launching one of the first spot Bitcoin ETFs in the United States, helping to expand institutional access to cryptocurrency markets.
