Benn Eifert is a highly accomplished economist and Founder and Chief Investment Officer of QVR Advisors, an investment management firm that manages volatility and derivatives strategies. Prior to QVR, he was Co-Founder and Co-Portfolio Manager of Mariner Coria in New York, where he worked on strategy, portfolio and risk management, fund marketing, as well as front office investment team management. Before that, he was Head of Quantitative Research and Derivatives Trader for the Wells Fargo proprietary trading desk, which became Overland Advisors. In addition to his financial career, he is also an experienced lecturer at the Masters in Financial Engineering Program at Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley.
EARLY CAREER
As Head of Quantitative Research at Wells Fargo, he created and executed relative value investment strategies in equity, currency, and commodity derivative markets.
He also built the empirical stress scenario risk models used firm-wide across asset classes and managed a team of quantitative analysts at Wells Fargo.
He was a Lecturer at Haas School of Business, where he taught quantitative trade screening and risk management models for equity, credit, capital structure, and volatility strategies.
He started his career as an Economist with the World Bank, where he produced quantitative research on private sector development, infrastructure, and aid flows in emerging markets.
He also published several research papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented them to top government officials in developing countries.
