Carl Delfeld is a seasoned speaker, journalist, author, senior executive and diplomat in Asia and emerging markets. He is the Chief Global and Emerging Markets Analyst at Cabot Wealth Network, an independent investment advisory firm. He serves as a member of Cabot's investment team and Chief Analyst of Cabot Explorer. Over the past three decades, Delfeld has held senior positions in business, finance and government. He was a co-founder and CFO of Pacifica Holdings, columnist with Forbes Asia and the National Interest, served as a member of the US National Committee on Pacific Economic Cooperation, and was chairman of the Asian Pension Forum.

Academic History

EARLY CAREER

  • Delfeld began his career with the First Bank Boston, now Bank of America, becoming Director of the Japan/South Korea group.

  • He served as Vice President and Asia Director for the investment firm Robert W. Baird & Company, he developed new business in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Sydney.

  • He served as Chairman of the Hong Kong Pension Forum and helped launch the U.S. Enterprise funds in Eastern Europe after the fall of the Berlin Wall. 

  • He also served as Managing Director of Chartwell Partners, an alternative asset advisory firm, and Vice Chairman of the Pacific Economic Club.


GOVERNMENT CAREER

  • Delfeld was appointed by President George H.W. Bush to be U.S. Ambassador ad interim to the Asian Development Bank in Manila.

  • He led economic and investment missions throughout the region as well as launching investment funds to unlock capital and talent in Asia.

  • He formerly served as an advisor to the U.S. Senate Finance Committee and the Joint Economic Committee after serving as a banking executive in Seoul, Tokyo and other areas of the Pacific Rim.
