Evan Strain is the Chief Investment Officer of Caron Capital, a third-generation institutional family office with operations in the United States and Canada. In this role, he oversees the firm’s investment strategy and portfolio management across multiple asset classes. Prior to joining Caron Capital, Evan served as Co-Portfolio Manager of the Third Avenue Small-Cap Value Fund, a fundamental, value-oriented investment manager founded by Martin Whitman. Earlier in his career, he spent three years as an Associate at Dorchester Management, a value-focused hedge fund, where he conducted in-depth fundamental investment analysis on companies across a range of industries and geographies.

EARLY CAREER
Before assuming his current role, Evan Strain served as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager of public and private investments at Caron Capital, overseeing a diversified portfolio across asset classes.
He previously spent nine years at Third Avenue Management, where he ultimately co-led the Third Avenue Small-Cap Value Fund, a value-driven investment strategy rooted in fundamental analysis.
Earlier in his career, Strain held investment roles at Dorchester Management as an Associate and at Merrill Lynch and Brittany Capital as an Analyst.
He began his career as a Junior Research Associate at RBC Dain Rauscher, gaining foundational experience in equity research and capital markets.
Strain is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
