Steve Eisman is Managing Director at Neuberger Berman, and Senior Portfolio Manager for the Eisman Group within the firm’s Private Asset Management division. Eisman is a legendary investor and one of the most respected analysts on Wall Street. He became a famous name in the investing world due to his prescient bet against the U.S. housing market before 2008, which led to his starring role in Michael Lewis' book “The Big Short”. Eisman started his career at Oppenheimer & Co., where he was ranked as an All-Star Analyst by both Institutional Investor and The Wall Street Journal on multiple occasions. He later served as Partner and Senior Portfolio Manager at FrontPoint Financial Services Fund, where he made the biggest impact of his career.
THE BIG SHORT
He was a part of “The Big Short,” shorting collateralized debt obligations and profiting from the collapse of the US housing bubble in 2007–2008.
He was one of a handful of investors who famously profited via prescient bets that the housing market was in a bubble that was about to burst.
In the movie adaptation, The Big Short, his name was changed to Mark Baum, and was portrayed by actor Steve Carell.

He was named Specialist Equity, Fund of the Year, Absolute Return Awards 2009.
He also served as a Managing Director and Senior Financial Services Analyst at Chilton Investment Co.
Earlier in his career, he was a Managing Director and Senior Investment Bank/Asset Management and Specialty Finance Analyst at Oppenheimer & Co.
