Dan Chung is the CEO and Chief Investment Officer at Alger, a recognized pioneer of growth-style investment management. With over 30 years of investment experience, he oversees the day-to-day operations of the firm and also guides its charitable and philanthropic work. He also serves as the Portfolio Manager of several Alger strategies, including the Spectra fund, which is worth $4.5 billion. Prior to joining Alger, Chung was an Associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York. In addition to his corporate responsibilities, he has made numerous TV appearances and frequently contributes to and supports various charitable organizations.
Chung joined Alger in 1994. He was named Chief Investment Officer in 2001, President in 2003, and CEO in 2006.
He manages the following funds: Alger 35, Capital Appreciation, Dynamic Opportunities, Dynamic Return, Health Sciences, Large Cap Growth, Mid Cap Growth, Small Cap Growth, and Spectra.
EARLY CAREER
He earned his J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
After graduating, he served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, United States Supreme Court.
He is also a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute.
