Heather Brilliant, CFA, is the CEO and President of Diamond Hill Capital Management, an independent and valuation-disciplined boutique asset manager. Since joining the firm in 2019, she has overseen all aspects of the business, including the delivery of the firm’s long-term strategy, the establishment of effective leadership, and the preservation of a sound investment philosophy. She is also a vocal advocate for creating diverse and inclusive cultures across the global investment management industry. Brilliant brings more than 20 years of domestic and international investment expertise to her role, with a career defined by leadership at some of the world's most influential financial research and management firms. Prior to joining Diamond Hill, she served as CEO, Americas for First State Investments, a global firm headquartered in Sydney, Australia. She also spent nearly 14 years with Morningstar, where she rose to become the Global Head of Equity and Credit Research before advancing to Chief Executive Officer of Morningstar Australasia.

Heather Brilliant is a long-standing member of the CFA Institute, the global credentialing organization that sets the standard for the investment industry.
She served on the CFA Institute Board of Governors from 2013 to 2020, playing a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s global strategy.
From 2018 to 2019, Brilliant held the position of Chair of the Board, where she provided leadership and governance to a body of 15 senior investment management executives worldwide.
She is an active member of the CFA Society of Columbus and previously served as the Chair of the CFA Society Chicago from 2011 to 2012.
In 2020, she was the recipient of the Hortense Friedman, CFA, Award for Excellence, recognizing her significant contributions to the investment profession.
EARLY CAREER
With more than 25 years of experience in the domestic and international investment industry, Brilliant built her career on a foundation of rigorous fundamental analysis across diverse sectors.
She spent nearly 14 years at Morningstar, rising from an equity analyst to Global Head of Equity and Credit Research. In this role, she managed a team of over 100 analysts before being appointed CEO of Morningstar Australasia, where she led the firm's operations across Australia and New Zealand.
During her time as an analyst, she covered a wide range of complex sectors, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, automotive, business services, and retail.
Earlier in her career, she held several key positions analyzing credit and equity at prominent firms including Bank of America, Driehaus Capital Management, and Coghill Capital Management.
