Michael Kramer is the Founder of Mott Capital Management. Kramer runs the Mott Capital's actively managed long-only Thematic Growth Portfolio with more than a 3-year GIPS-compliant track record. He also created “Reading the Markets,” an exclusive subscription offering on Seeking Alpha’s marketplace which identifies global-macro and stock-specific opportunities to make money. Prior to starting Mott Capital, he began his career in high-risk trading environments, trading US and International equities. His trading skills and comprehensive financial analysis of public companies have given him a unique perspective on investing, which stands out from analysts who only look at top-line numbers. Additionally, he pays particular attention to finding new generational themes and trends in society. He devotes a significant part of his research to global macroeconomics and central bank policies that impact financial markets.

Academic History



  • Prior to MCM, he spent the previous 7 years working as a domestic and international equity trader.

  • He was responsible for handling trades in some of the most illiquid equities, and had experience trading in some of the most exotic foreign markets.

  • After a ten-year-long career working as a buy-side domestic and international equity trader, he began to build Mott Capital Management.


  • He started following the market when he was 16 years old in 1994, when he was a sophomore at Manhasset High School. 

  • He has always had an interest in finding and investing in exciting growth companies.

  • He financed the majority of his undergraduate education by investing in equities.
