Brian Shannon is a well-known professional trader, author, technical analyst and educator with over 35 years of experience. Shannon is the Founder of Alphatrends, one of the leading online technical analysis services that has helped train and mentor thousands of traders worldwide since 2005. His primary focus is on price action and his approach is focused on helping people in their application of these techniques to make decisions about market direction and risk management. Shannon is an internationally recognized technical analysis expert who is focused on short-to-intermediate trading time frames.
He is known to have a weekly chart, a daily chart, a 30-minute timeframe, a 15-minute timeframe and a five-minute timeframe so he can see five time-frames at once.
This allows Shannon to see the interplay of bigger trends with shorter-term time frame trends.
EARLY CAREER
Shannon began educating and mentoring people about technical analysis and trading techniques as Head of Research and Training for MarketWise.
He held various positions at MarketWise, including Trader and Lead Instructor for stock market trading class.
He was also President of Alphascanner, a stock market scanning tool which allows the user to scan up to three different time frames simultaneously.
Earlier in his career, he served as a stockbroker for Lehman Brothers and Dain Bosworth.
