Chris Versace, widely known as The Thematic Investor, is the Chief Investment Officer and Thematic Strategist at Tematica Research, a firm recognized for its leadership in thematically driven equity research, economic commentary, and investment strategy. Versace is best known for developing a proprietary thematic investing framework that integrates economic, demographic, psychographic, and technological trends to identify powerful, multi-year structural shifts shaping global markets. With more than 30 years of cross-industry investment experience, Versace brings deep institutional insight to thematic investing. He began his career with 13 years in equity research at some of Wall Street’s most respected firms, including Salomon Brothers, Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, and Friedman Billings Ramsey, where he covered a broad range of sectors and market cycles. Versace is also the author and Lead Portfolio Manager of the TheStreet Pro Portfolio (formerly Action Alerts PLUS) and a regular contributor to Real Money Pro. EARLY CAREER

  • Chris Versace began his career in equity research before founding Versace Management in 2005.

  • As Senior Vice President at Friedman Billings Ramsey (FBR), he produced award-winning, highly differentiated research by applying an ecosystem-based approach to the mobile phone industry—an innovative perspective that examined both end markets and enabling technologies.

  • His coverage extended across critical component and material technologies, including RF semiconductors (such as RFID and GPS), LEDs, and advanced display technologies.

  • Versace’s research excellence earned him honorable mentions in Institutional Investor’s annual analyst rankings, along with recognition as a five-star analyst by Zacks Investment Services and a four-star analyst by StarMine.

  • In addition to his industry work, Versace spent nine years as an Assistant Professor of Finance at the NJCU School of Business, where he designed and launched the NJCU New Jersey 50 Index, blending academic rigor with real-world market application.
