John Heins is Fitzpatrick Endowed Professor of Value Investing and Director of the C.T. and Kelley Fitzpatrick Center for Value Investing at the University of Alabama's Culverhouse College of Business. He serves as the Faculty Advisor for the Culverhouse Investment Management Group and for the Investment Banking Academy. Heins is also the Co-Founder and President of Value Investor Media, where he publishes and serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the highly regarded investment newsletter, Value Investor Insight. Earlier in his career, Heins served as the President & CEO of Gruner + Jahr USA Publishing, as the Senior Vice President for Personal Finance at AOL, and as a reporter for Forbes magazine.

EARLY CAREER
Heins was SVP and General Manager of America Online's Personal Finance business.
He was responsible for AOL's largest and most profitable consumer-interest category, reaching 15 million unique users each month.
Prior to AOL, he spent 15 years in the magazine industry, most recently as President and CEO of Gruner+Jahr USA Publishing.
During his tenure at G+J, the company grew four-fold while operating profits more than quintupled.
He started his career in the magazine business at Forbes, where he served as reporter and staff writer in both New York and Los Angeles.
At Forbes, he covered a wide variety of subjects, including finance, banking, corporate strategy, media and technology.
