Founded in 1867, the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign is the second oldest public university in the state of Illinois. It is made up of 17 colleges offering about 150 different study programs. The libraries at the university hold one of the biggest collections of any public library in the United States, with some 13 million volumes across nearly 40 library sites.
