Holmes has held the controlling interest in USGI since 1989, and has been the firm's CIO since 1999.
He was integral in launching the U.S. Global Jets ETF – the first product of its kind to focus solely on the airline sector.
He also helped launch the U.S. Global GO GOLD and Precious Metal Miners ETF (GOAU), which provides investors to companies engaged in the production of precious metals, with an emphasis on the royalty and streaming model.
In 2017, U.S. Global Investors made a strategic investment in HIVE Blockchain Technologies, listed in Toronto.
He serves as Executive Chairman of HIVE, which is the first cryptocurrency mining company to go public, mining Bitcoin.
