Jeff Kilburg is the Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager of Sanctuary Wealth, a global wealth management firm headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is also the Founder and CEO of KKM Financial, a boutique asset management firm based in Chicago, Illinois. Kilburg has been active in the financial markets since 1997. His investment approach blends quantitative and qualitative analysis methods with a deep understanding of volatility pricing, risk management, and market insight.

CAREER

  • Kilburg spent more than 20 years on the floors of the Chicago Board of Trade and Chicago Board Options Exchange
  • He learned about equity options in the 1990s under the mentorship of Mercury Founders Jon and Pete Najarian.
  • He then joined Ritchie Capital Markets Group to work in the bond option with founder Joe Ritchie and his son Thane Ritchie.
  • He was introduced to the volatility associated with fixed income on the floor of CBOT, which created the opportunity for him to gravitate towards the bond futures pits. 
  • He subsequently became a team member and an assistant broker in the 30-Year Futures pit with the specialist group, JLS Group. 
  • The 30-year pit in the 1990s was a riveting opportunity and became his starting point in futures.
  • He launched a floor operation of his own at the CBOT in 1999.
  • After the benchmark was switched from the 30-Year Bond to the 10-Year Note in the early 2000s, he transitioned into the 10-Year Note pit and became one of the larger market makers there.
  • Having the ability to trade the entire curve via the various available spreads, he obtained vast experience in understanding risk management

AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS

  • While at the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame, Kilburg was a recipient of a four-year football scholarship under Lou Holtz.
  • In 2012, Jeff garnered acknowledgment from CNBC for calling that the 10-year note would fall to historic lows under the 1.5% level.
