Alberto Gallo is the Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Andromeda Capital Management, a global investment management firm focused on alpha generation across fixed income and credit markets. He is widely recognized as an expert on financial crises, macroeconomic risk, and market instability, and regularly advises central banks, policymakers, and regulators on macro-financial stability and systemic risk. Before founding Andromeda Capital Management, Gallo was a Portfolio Manager and Head of Macro Strategies at Algebris Investments, where he managed the Algebris Macro Credit Fund, an unconstrained global strategy investing across sovereign bonds, credit, and rates markets. Earlier in his career, he led macro credit research at RBS in London and held senior research roles at Goldman Sachs in New York, Bear Stearns in New York and London, and Merrill Lynch in London. In addition to his investment work, Gallo is actively engaged in academia and thought leadership. He serves as a Guest Professor of Macroeconomics at the SDA Bocconi School of Management, where he teaches and researches topics related to financial crises, monetary policy, and global macro dynamics.

EARLY CAREER

  • Alberto Gallo has built a distinguished career across global credit, macro strategy, and fixed income research. At Algebris Investments, he initiated and managed the Global Credit Opportunities Fund and played a central role in shaping the firm’s macro credit investment approach.

  • Earlier, he founded and led the Global Macro Credit Research team at RBS, now NatWest Group, where he oversaw idea generation across investment grade, high yield, and structured credit markets.

  • During his tenure at RBS, Gallo’s research team achieved top rankings in Institutional Investor’s All Europe Fixed Income Survey for Investment Grade, High Yield Research, and Fixed Income Strategy for four consecutive years, reflecting consistent leadership in European credit research.

  • Prior to RBS, he held senior roles at Bear Stearns and Merrill Lynch in London, where he co authored some of the early institutional research on the credit derivatives market, contributing to the development of analytical frameworks used across global credit trading desks.

  • Before entering finance, Gallo served in the Italian Navy at the F. Morosini Naval Academy in Venice. He led the 1997 to 2000 cadet class and was also a national level track and field athlete, experiences that shaped his leadership discipline and competitive mindset.
