Joe Cavatoni is a Senior Market Strategist at the World Gold Council, a market development organization for the gold industry. He plays a key role in guiding the firm’s global objectives for gold, financial technology, supply chain, and the ETFs platform. With over three decades of experience in the financial services industry, Cavatoni has developed and demonstrated expertise in the areas of global capital markets, exchange traded funds, asset management, trading and business/platform development. Prior to joining WGC, he was a Managing Director at BlackRock where he was responsible for iShares Capital Markets – Americas and was a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Before that, he held senior positions at UBS, Merrill Lynch and Bank of America focused on equity derivatives training, securities financing and lending.

Cavatoni joined WGC in 2016 to lead US business strategy which includes oversight of investor relationships, product solutions, research and marketing.
As a Senior Market Strategist, he plays a key role in guiding the firm’s global objectives for gold, financial technology, supply chain, and the ETFs platform.
He also serves as Principal Executive Officer of the World Gold Trust Services, President of WGC USA Asset Management Company, Board Member and President of WGC Holdings, and Member of the Executive Committee.

Cavatoni was Managing Director and Head of iShares Capital Markets for the Americas, responsible for the teams in the US, Canada, and Latin America.
He managed the relationships with broker dealers, market makers, exchanges, index providers, clients and custodians, and was a member of the iShares US Executive Committee.
He also introduced the systematic review of market makers, exchanges and independent brokerage firms.
During his tenure at BIG, he pioneered the joint broker-ETF events in Asia Pacific, where both institutions shared the presentation responsibilities.

Cavatoni was Managing Director and Head of Equity Finance at UBS, responsible for a 25-person team focused on access products long and short, securities lending and prime brokerage finances requirements.
Before that, he was a Director at Merrill Lynch for nine years and an Analyst for the Bank of America for four years.
He has been featured in Bloomberg, CNBC, Times, and Nasdaq, among others.
