Steven Schoenfeld is the CEO of MarketVector Indexes, a leading global index provider for equities, fixed income, hard asset, and digital asset indexes. He develops and implements the business strategy for the company and oversees all aspects of MarketVector’s operations, research and product development, client service, sales, and marketing. Schoenfeld is a 40-year veteran of the investment management and financial services industry. He served in senior fiduciary positions at Northern Trust Corporation, where he oversaw more than USD 300 billion in quantitatively managed global equity and fixed income portfolios, and at Barclays Global Investors, now BlackRock, where he managed more than USD 70 billion in developed and emerging market stock index funds and ETFs.
Schoenfeld became CEO of MarketVector following its acquisition of BlueStar Indexes in August 2020.
He was the founder and the Chief Investment Officer of BlueStar which maintained a family of indexes for global technology stocks, emerging markets, and Israeli equities and bonds.
BlueStar Indexes is a financial research firm focused on Israeli capital markets and asset classes and global technology themes and sectors.
EARLY CAREER
He was a Managing Partner of Global Index Strategies, a specialized consultancy focusing on asset management, asset allocation, and portfolio management, among others.
He was Director of Division Market Oversight at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
As CIO of Global Quantitative Management at Northern Trust, he was responsible for $300 billion in index equity, index fixed income and quant-active equity strategies invested worldwide.
He also helped launch NTGI's Emerging Markets, and led a team of investment strategists. Before that, he was the Founder of IndexUniverse.com, now ETF.com.
He was Managing Director of Barclays Global Investors, now BlackRock, where he also served as Head of International Equity Index Product Strategy and Index Methodology.
He also led the team at the IFC/World Bank which developed the first investable emerging market indexes and traded Japanese stock index futures on the floor of the Singapore Exchange.
