Dan Morehead is the Founder and Managing Partner of Pantera Capital, the first investment firm dedicated exclusively to Bitcoin, digital currencies, and blockchain technology companies. Under his leadership, Pantera Capital has become one of the most prominent blockchain investment firms in the United States and a major institutional holder of digital assets. Morehead is widely recognized as a legend in trading and asset management and a pioneering figure in cryptocurrency and digital finance innovation. Before founding Pantera Capital in 2003, he built a distinguished career in global finance. He was the Founder and CEO of Atriax, an electronic foreign exchange platform, and served as Head of Macro Trading and Chief Financial Officer at Tiger Global Management alongside Julian Robertson. Internationally, he held senior roles including Global Head of FX Options at Deutsche Bank in London and leadership of derivatives trading units at Bankers Trust in North America and Japan, managing a global macro fund. Dan Morehead brings over 25 years of experience managing global macro funds, macro trading, and investment advisory services.
He began his career as a Collateralized Mortgage Obligation Trader at Goldman Sachs and later managed a global macro fund and derivatives trading units in North America and Japan at Bankers Trust, achieving a 28.7% annualized return.
He also oversaw equity, interest rate, and mortgage derivatives trading operations in New York and Tokyo during his tenure at Bankers Trust.
