Dan Morehead is the Founder and Managing Partner of Pantera Capital, the first investment firm focused exclusively on Bitcoin, other digital currencies, and companies in the blockchain ecosystem. Under his leadership, Pantera Capital has become one of the most prominent blockchain investment firms in the United States and one of the largest institutional owners of digital assets. Dan is a legend of the trading and asset management business and has been at the forefront of digital finance innovation. Prior to starting Pantera Capital in 2003, he made significant strides in the world of finance, and was the Founder and CEO of Atriax, an electronic foreign exchange platform. Before that, he was Head of Macro Trading and Chief Financial Officer at Tiger Global Management with Julian Robertson. He has also held prestigious positions internationally, including serving as the Global Head of FX Options at Deutsche Bank in London and leading derivatives trading units at Bankers Trust in both North America and Japan, managing a global macro fund. He also served as Chairman of Bitstamp, one of the world's largest Bitcoin exchanges.

At Pantera Capital, Dan manages over $1 billion of institutional investor assets in its global macro strategy.
Under his leadership, the firm has grown into a cornerstone of blockchain investment, steering the firm through the burgeoning landscape of cryptocurrency and related technologies.
In 2013, Pantera launched the first cryptocurrency fund in the United States — when Bitcoin was at $65 /BTC. Pantera Bitcoin Fund has returned over 12,000% in five years and has returned billions to its investors.
Pantera’s Venture Investments division has invested in over 50 blockchain companies, including Bakkt, Bitstamp, Ripple, BitGo, Xapo and ShapeShift.
Pantera currently manages capital in seven funds across three product groups – passive, hedge, and venture.
As CFO, he conceived Tiger's innovative risk management methodology and managed its implementation.
He served as the leader of the Risk Management, Performance, Finance, Credit and Margin, Cash and Collateral Management, Fund Accounting and Human Resource departments.
He also identified, analyzed and recommended macro investments for the portfolio and was responsible for macro liquidity position and Wall Street counterparty relationships.

Dan began his career as a Collateralized Mortgage Obligation Trader at Goldman Sachs.
At Bankers Trust, he managed a global macro fund and derivatives trading units in North America and Japan that achieved a 28.7% annualized return.
He also managed equity, interest rate and mortgage derivatives trading businesses in New York and Tokyo during his tenure at Bankers Trust.
